My Palm House series includes watercolour paintings, sketches and large acrylic works, inspired by the architecture and exotic tropical vegetation of the Sefton Park Palm House – a three tier dome shaped Victorian iron glasshouse in Liverpool, England.

Acrylic paints are a fast-drying medium that can be diluted with water, becoming water-resistant when dry, I like their versatility and use them a lot in mixed media projects.

Pen & Ink has always been a favourite medium, from outdoor sketching to more abstract graphic design work. I usually add watercolour washes to these inked drawings. More recently the watercolour element has become more of a focus of the work.

I find oil paints are also easy to handle, as they can be worked for longer than most paints, they are great for paintings that stay on the easel and get multiple visits.
